Death Knight, of course, because as much as I'd like to have a little spacegoat shaman to play with when I need a break from my guild and Kiirk isn't around to entertain me — druids are boring pre-Mangle, sorry! — the idea of leveling an alt on a foreign server from level 1 breaks my brain.
So I was playing around with the character selection screen before work this morning, when an entire storyline *clicked* into place. I come from a roleplaying background, but I've never actually attempted it in WoW. Friends warned me before I rolled my first character not to bother; I wouldn't find the immersive, collaborative experience I was accustomed to anywhere in Azeroth. After reading a few roleplaying blogs (Pix, I'm looking at you!), I'm not sure if that was sound advice or not ... but either way, I found my niche in-game, and I'm not leaving it.
... But suddenly, I have a brand-new character with a personality I get and a history I could really build on. She's also adorable — for Alliance, I mean; nothing says cute quite like a purple pigtails on a half-rotted corpse, but we can't all be Forsaken — so the temptation is definitely there.
Two hours of daydreaming (and databasing!, in the off-chance my boss is reading >.>), I have an entire cast of supporting characters, including a human paladin so cheerfully annoying that my warlock already wants to poke his eyes out with her wand. (I told her that she needs to stay on her server and leave the fictional Alliance adventurers alone, but ever since she broke the fourth wall, I haven't been able to do a thing with her ...
Which is probably why I could never roleplay with her, come to think of it. She'd just laugh in my face and run off to steal some more souls for her collection, and how interesting would that be?)
