Tell me about it.. We beat anub soon after hardmodes became available and had been stuck on 49 tries for what felt like ages, there was always something, accidental pulls, mistakes, disconnects, WoW crashes, you name it.
We finally got it done this week, although it was a really close call once again (anub went down to 2 rogues evasion tanking.. ^^).

Somehow I still can't motivate myself to do 10 mans on a regular basis. I do the 25 man raiding and some few 10 man's for emblem farming and that's it.

Last week though I signed up for 10 TotGC for the first time. It's actually more fun than I thought and challenging enough even with three healers (except for Champions/Anub). We finished with 48 attempts left, which isn't all too bad.

Ugh. As far as the "vocal minority" begging to be carried, I know exactly how that feels. My guild does strictly 10mans but in Naxx we were able to put together two solid groups each week, both usually getting a full clear. When Ulduar first came out we had alot of people from what we considered the "core" group who wanted to keep farming Naxx for obsolete gear and wanted nothing to do with Ulduar. Well...now they yell at us when we go into ToCr and Ony and accuse us of being a clique and getting pissed off that we no longer invite them to the new content. No matter how many times we remind them of how it was THEIR choice to stop raiding with us, it makes no difference to them. Or when we point out that they USED to be a part of the supposed clique, they say "oh it wasnt a clique back then" "why not?" "because we were a part of it." /fail excuse is fail.

"…but as things stand, I’m under almost constant pressure to make WoW be everything for everyone."

After reading and rereading your post, it is this phrase to which I keep returning...

I can so relate to everything you've said here, especially the bit about having to "learn" the encounter all over again with new people. I think this is a crucial thing that people miss. They can be all too quick to complain that "the same people get to go every time", but they forget the flipside of the coin in that if it wasn't the same people each time it would take even longer to get anywhere. Plus, there's normally a good reason why certain people get picked for these groups and others don't ;)

Anyway yeah, Insanity 10. I've been through the same as you the past few weeks. 45-49 attempt kills, always having an attempt or 2 ruined by a stupid mistake. We finally did it this week. It was a close one on Anub (Health goes heart-stoppingly low on phase 3, don't know how you healers cope when every instinct is screaming at you to heal those nearly-empty bars) but we did it because, for once, no-one screwed up.

Keep at it though :) I know from first hand experience how disheartening it is to miss out, and some of it is out of your control anyway, but if everyone just has that one perfect raid, it can be done, with wiggle room too (Or shammy died and self-ressed on Anub).

It's not easy, but remind yourself that you play to have fun first and foremost, and believe it. Others' fun is secondary to your own. If you're not enjoying what's going on, switch it up.

As for the 10man, I'd cut the ones who stopped showing up only if I had suitable replacements. That means: good players, nice people, good attitude, have been farming and running things on their own to get good gear.

I agree with the above. If you enjoyed WoW before all this stressful organizing and pleasing everyone, then revert back to what you enjoyed previously! :) What nights are you guys running 10 mans? I know I am behind on gear, but I would be willing to help out if it meant you were able to run the instance, rather than not.

On a different note, I miss licking Ignus :(

<i>"If I could just sit back and enjoy things, maybe I’d feel differently … but as things stand, I’m under almost constant pressure to make WoW be everything for everyone."</i>

That's an awkward position to be in. Can I suggest that it would be perfectly reasonable to narrow your goals? Don't make Wow be everything for everyone.

Be aware of your guild's posted goals. The opening paragraph on Surreality's website declares a philosophy of "fun and friendship first, progression second". If that description is still accurate, then yes you can let yourself relax away from progression raiding and you focus on just having fun experiencing the normal mode raids, and most of your guildies will remain happy with the guild.
