On the outside, looking in.
Annah and I decided to sit out this week's Ulduar 10. I put the raid together, as usual — if I don't, no one does — but in light of all the recent (and not so recent) drama surrounding 10's, we thought it best to step aside and let some new players rotate in.
The group is doing really well: they've done all of the Keepers on hardmode — and that's with fully half the group seeing the fights for the first time. I'm happy for them, and satisfied with the decision to sit out. It will be good for guild morale.
... and yet, when you play the game to play with friends, it does sting a little to be the odd one out.

Aww.
How many were with you, in not going to the raid? If there was 5 or more, should have grabbed a couple of pugs and hit up Naxx10 for lolmode! (And Dedicated Few achievement, if hadn’t done so already.)
Of course, from your stories the other night when Elam and I were in there, it’s entirely possible you’d rather have teeth pulled than go there again.
If it’s any consolation at all, I think that letting the new players in really sincerely *will* help with the Morale of the people involved, especially with how fortunate they’ve been in gaining the achievements! I was a very jealous tree when Elam came on MSN and simply linked me his armory achievements page! But at the same time, pleased when he related that many new guys got to go along.
Anyhow, hope you’re doing ok, and again know that your efforts in setting this up very likely did not go unnoticed or unappreciated.

Now that my li’l druid is 80 I’d definitely be down for some Naxx 10!
I actually had a lot of fun leveling Ihlana while the group was in Ulduar, so it’s not like I was sitting around moping about being left out. It was my choice and it was definitely the right one to make. Like I said, I’m satisified with it.
I’m also excited by the prospect of working on One Light in the Darkness — which I can see happening now that fully five more people are close to completing the meta-achievement. Nofears made me feel all warm and fuzzy when he linked the achievement in /g and said he hadn’t even though about getting a protodrake, but now it seemed inevitable.
And don’t worry. We’ll be back in there again, I’m sure, so there will be plenty of chances to catch up to Elam (the show-off!).

Undying or bust!

NO.

Sounds like fun! Hopefully can make it to some of the 10 runs in the near-ish future, especially up for some more Naxx10 fun runs!
If you want any help or advice for the baby Druid as well, lemme know! I’d love to know if there is anything specific you’d like to see me write about.

I always hated not going to things with my friends, especially if they managed guild firsts >.> Curse you, work schedule…!

I sympathize! I’m in the same position with the new job. I just can’t seem to get out of the office early enough to make it to raids on time.

*pat pat* It is for the greater good
I honestly respect you for actually sacrificing by sitting out on the raids that you organize
From one Warlock to another, I hope that it will really help guild morale

Thanks. Me too.

Being the odd man out really sucks sometimes which for some reason I always tend to be. In WoW I was the last to reach max level because I have a fondness for alts. Now in Aion I’m playing catch up and the game just came out! At least the “b group” is full of funny people.
I have to admire you though. You put your own enjoyment aside for that of others. In the long run its a good decision.

Catch-up in Aion? Already? That’s kind of depressing. I’m half tempted to pick it up, but I don’t think I can afford another addiction. Between Bones and Warcraft … that might be enough for me. ^^

Well only because alot of my friends had time off and were able to play during the day. It had alot to do with there being ques during the first week of the game of upwards to 4 to 5 hours. It limited play time for a lot of us. Now that those issues have been fixed, for the most part, the gap is not as big.
If you ever do happen to give it a whirl stop by Triniel and give a shout to Jadzia.

NO MOAR 10-MANS FOR ME.
I don’t want my new leader’s feelings hurt, as I’m the resident FNG. =)

No, it was good! My feelings weren’t hurt; I was just a bit melancholy, but I’m over it.
I was happy to see more people make progress on the meta-achievement. (It means it’ll be easier for me to bully people into working on Yogg hardmodes in the future, lol.) We now have five healers, four tanks and something like — *counting* — 8? 10? DPS with a vested interest in finishing the instance. We exposed more raiders to Ulduar hardmodes (which will help our 25-man, hopefully!) and got people who haven’t motivated by 10-man content excited by seeing all of those achievements flash across /guild chat.
It was also a morale boost to the vets, who were starting to despair of ever seeing 25-man hardmodes. If we have the equivalent of two 10-mans racking up nerdpoints, then it’s just a small hop up to 25’s.
It’s a big fat win in my book.

From what I saw – there is little reason U25 hard modes shouldn’t have progress. Yes, linear progression went out the window with 3.2 and ToGC is the semi-official measuring stick – but it’s still nice to beat some (still) tough content.
And did I mention I love my new home? Why yes… yes, I had. And I’ll say it again.
